3.89 miles. A little solo ride around Boldon Colliery, before vintage 1947 Pensioner gets out of bed, on my Specialised Vado 4SL.

Friday 07/08/2026

15.24 miles. Boldon Colliery - Jarrow - Washington - Boldon Colliery. Two vintage 1947 Pensioners, riding Hase Pino Steps, semi-recumbent tandem. Mild 21c, but, a bit cloudy and a stiff breeze from the west. Cycle gate on Spout Lane still not widened, as promised by Council, so, we used our detour. A coffee and Sandwich stop at Washing Village Green. Return via Barmston Village, and, held up again, for about 15 minutes, just after Nissan, whilst a couple of workmen changed a telegraph pole. Spent the time chatting to a fellow cyclist, who said he had noticed us previously pedalling our tandem.

  Thursday, 22nd April 2021 13.42 miles. Wythall - Kings Norton - Wythall . Out via NCN 55, Iknield Way, rather undulating, or, "very hilly" as Kathleen described it! Return via Stratford-on-Avon Canal, much more gentle. Bright sunny, calm day, 6C initially, but, rising to 14C. A bit of excitement when riding along the Stratford-on-Avon Canal towpath, two narrow boats negotiating the Shirley Drawbridge (bridge 8). Friday, 23rd April 2021 4.44 Miles. A short trip to the nearest supermarket (Tesco Express). Saturday, 24th April 2021   9.41 Miles . Withall - Earlswood Lakes . Bright sunny day, 17C, but, with a cold wind blowing from the East. Bit of a disappointment, major works at Earlswood Lakes means that most of it is closed!

Week ending, Saturday 6th September 2025 (20.08 miles)

  Monday 1st September 2025 6.60 miles. Boldon - West Meadows - Nissan. Sunny, and 19c, but very windy, 29mph from the South. Two vintage 1947 pensioners, riding Hase Pino Steps Semi-recumbant tandem. No video, SD card malfunction. Thursday, 4th September 2025 13.48 miles . Boldon - Whitburn - Marsden - Boldon. Two vintage 1947 pensioners, riding  Hase Pino Steps Semi-recumbant tandem. Mild 19c, but, always the threat of rain, which became actual rain when we were almost home. Coffee and Cake stop, at Whitburn Cafe. This is not a route we have done before, on the tandem, and, we managed to have our first "off", at the point where we turned off coast road, to head inland, a combination of a very tight left turn, and a hill, too much for my tandem skills. No injuries, just our dignity damaged 😂
